January 28, 2008 (Monday)

  Signing of the Vietnam Peace Accord
 A program will be held 6:00 PM at the Golden Corral. Rick Sarver Vice President of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 913, Branson, MO and a Vietnam Veteran will be the guest speaker. The program marks the day in 1973 when America's longest and most controversial war came to an end. Barbra Linderer is the BVTF Chairperson for this event. For more information contact 417-337-8387.
February 3, 2008 (Sunday)

 

Four Chaplains Sunday
The 65th Anniversary ceremony will held during each of the three worship service at the Kimberling City United Methodist Church, 57 Kimberling City Center Lane, Kimberling City, MO. Times are 8:15 am or 10:45 am - Traditional Services or 9:30 am - Contemporary Service. The ceremony will honor the Four Chaplains of the U.S.A.T. Dorchester, who courageously gave up their life jackets to the troops. As the ship sank the four chaplains stood arm in arm in prayer. Sean Murray is the BVTF Chairperson for this event TBD. February 22, 2008 (Friday)

 

Veterans and General Public  6:30 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.
The Hollister High School will be hosting the Vietnam Story Board that has been on display at there school during the month of February for all to come and see. They will have on display Essays, Poems, and Projects completed by the students about the men and women who served during this conflict. There will be a short program to honor Vietnam veterans followed by a desert reception. April 11, 2008 (Friday)

  Persian Gulf War Cease Fire
This day commemorates the Official Cease Fire in 1991 of the Persian Gulf War and will be dedicated to the soldiers who served in Iraq during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. At 1:30 pm the Branson Veterans Task Force will commemorate the signing of the Persian Gulf War Cease Fire on April 6, 1991. If you are a soldier from Desert Shield or Desert Storm, you are invited to participate. Please be at the entertainment tent at Branson Fest by 1:00 pm on April 11. A complimentary lunch at Golden Corral will be provided to all Persian Gulf veterans who attend. Wings of the Ozarks Fly In                                                                           From 8:00 am to 2:00 pm the Wings of the Ozarks will be hosting the Second annual Welcome 2 Wings Aviation Fly In and Open House at the Taney County Airport in Hollister, MO. Different types of aircraft will be on display.

5th Annual Branson Vietnam Veterans Benefit Show will be held at the Hamner/Barber Theater, 3044 Shepard of the Hills Expressway, Branson, MO. 7PM - 9 PM. Sponsored by  Branson Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 913. Proceeds from the Benefit will be used to assist Southwest Missouri military personnel and their families. The entertainment line-up currently includes : The Brett Family Singers, Tom Mullica as Red Skelton, Dave Hamner, Clay Cooper, Legends in Concert, Jim Barber, Dalena Ditto, #1 hits of the 60's. 2nd Annual Pig Roast & Casino Night -  5:30 pm Great food followed by a Casino Night with "funny money"  and if that does blow your socks off, we'll even add an auction where you get to use your "funny money winnings" to buy all sorts of items. This is a blast and all of it at "Area 57" at the Dick Clark American Bandstand Theater. Benefit for the Veterans Assistance Fund, sponsored by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 913.  Join us for a fun filled evening beginning with food at 5:30 pm and the rest of the fun follows.   Branson Doesn't Forget Armed Forces Day
At 10:00 a.m. a ceremony will be held in the Town Square at the Branson Landing. This ceremony is to honor and pay tribute to all branches of the military and to honor our nation's active duty military and their families. The guest speaker is Rear Admiral John Clarke Orzalli.                                                                           This year the "Rock Ride Remember" Presents "The Midwest Ride with Paul Revere" will be a part of the ceremony. Bike riders to register 8:00 - 8:45 am at Dick Clarks American Band Stand Area 57. 9:00 am Ride to Branson Landing. 9:45 am 1/2 Line up Bass Pro Shop and 1/2 line up Belk for procession down Branson Landing to town square for ceremony.

Flag Day 
Do you have a flag that is torn, tattered or worn out? You can turn it in for proper disposal at one of three locations in Branson: Frontier Flags (The Flag Store) 212 S. Commercial, the parking lot of the Veterans Memorial Museum, 1250 W. State Hwy 76, and other locations to be determined.From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Gretna Rd, Hwy 76 and Hwy 165  we will be taking donation for the Avenue of Freedom. National Day of Atomic Remembrance
The 62nd anniversary of the first atomic explosion and all veterans who were exposed to radiation in the line of military duty will be recognized during the National Atomic Veterans Day of Remembrance Observance July 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the God and Country Inspiration Garden, 1116 W. Highway 76 in Branson. U.S. Navy Retired Lieutenant David Combs will present a special message during the observance. President George W. Bush declared July 16th as a National day for all military groups and veterans associated with the nuclear programs. Dawn Easton is the BVTF chairperson for this event. Korean War Armistice Day
The Harry S. Truman Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association will host a memorial ceremony marking the end of "The Forgotten War," remembering veterans who returned and those who did not. The End of WWII
To commemorate the Formal Surrender of Japan on 9/2/1945 which brought an end to WWII, the single most defining event of the 20th Century. On that date, the Japanese formally surrendered aboard the Battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo Harbor. Steve Weyher is the BVTF chairperson for this event. For more information contact 417-337-8387.

9/11 "Branson Remembers"
A beautiful and moving ceremony will be held in observance of the tragedy which changed the world. 8:00 A.M. in the back parking lot behind the Grand Palace under the American High-rise Monument. Steve Weyher is the BVTF chairperson for this event. For more information contact 417-337-8387.

POW-MIA Day. "Silent March"
A "Silent March" will be held starting at 9:00 A.M. from the Whelchel Funeral Chapel parking lot, 310 S. Commercial, Branson. It will proceed down Commercial to Main St. taking Main St. down to the Town Square at the Branson Landing where a short commemorative service  will be held for those who have not returned from WWII, Korea, Vietnam or Desert Storm. Branson Motorcycle Toy Run
The 18th Annual Branson Motorcycle Toy Run sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5168 of Forsyth, MO will meet at Legends in Concert Hwy 76 & 165, Branson, MO at 12:00 p.m. Depart at 1:00 p.m. The parade of motorcycles will be led by Santa going to the VFW Post 5168 at Forsyth, MO. Please NO stuffed animals. Toys and coats for all ages are needed. Dinner and music will be provided compliments of the VFW. For more information contact 417-334-0775.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
A special ceremony will commemorate "The day that will live in infamy". Begin at 10:30 am Laying of the wreath into Lake Taneycomo. Taps will be during wreath laying. Location at Scotty's Trout Dock and Marina, South of Bass Pro Shop and Branson Landing. For more information contact 417-337-8387.
