On
November 14, 2001, the Avenue Of Freedom was designated by
the Branson Board of Alderman in honor of our veterans from
past wars, present wars, to our heroes who gave their lives for freedom;
and those who died in the attacks on September 11, 2001.
The "Avenue of Freedom" is along Gretna Road from Highway
248 west approximately 2 miles to the bridge at Roark Valley
Road.
The
"Avenue Of Freedom" is maintained only through donations
from individuals and businesses. If you would like to
help
maintain the "Avenue of Freedom" with a tax deductible
donation send a check to the address below.
You
may honor a loved one who was or is a Veteran, Police Officer,
Firefighter or a first responder with a $50.00 donation for a flag in
that individual's name. We will
print the individual's information on the flag and fly
it along the Avenue of Freedom.
We
offer two options:
1. We
will fly the flag on the Avenue of Freedom for at least 60 days at
which time we will take it down and ship it to you with a
certificate. NOTE: Flags may fly longer please see
the note below.
2. We
will fly the flag on the Avenue of Freedom until it has to be
removed and we will dispose of it properly or we can ship it
to you.
Whatever option you choose when the flag is retired from the
Avenue of Freedom you will receive a certificate documenting
the dates it was flown. The individual's name will
also be placed on the Avenue of Freedom Hall of Honor page
on our website.
The
flags are made in the U.S.A. 3'x5' sewn nylon to withstand
the weather elements.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization and for us
to hire someone with the equipment to replace flags along
the Avenue of Freedom can become very costly. We are
fortunate that we have a business that volunteers their
equipment and personnel to replace our flags along the
Avenue of Freedom. We can only replace the flags when he is
available to do so. Also remember that weather is a factor
as to when we replace flags. At times it may
take a little longer to get the flag down so we can get it
to you. Please be patient and thank you for your support.
NOTE: We remove the flags from the Avenue of Freedom by Dec.
22 each year do to the possibility of extreme ice storms we
can get during the winter months. We will place the last
Honor Flags on the Avenue of Freedom NO LATER THAN Oct. 22
to allow them to fly for 60 days. Any Honor Flag request
received after Oct. 22 will be placed on the Avenue of
Freedom around April 1 the next year.
Please send
your donations to the Branson Veterans Task Force and
indicate that your check is for the "Avenue Of Freedom."
