The public is invited to the annual Women Veterans Rose Petal Ceremony and Luncheon, noon to 2 PM on Saturday, November 9th at the Majestic Theater, 2849 Gretna Road in suite 200, home of the Murder Mystery Dinner Show.

The event, hosted by the Branson Veterans Task Force (BVTF), recognizes women’s contributions to the United States Armed Forces.

The luncheon is free to women veterans and active duty female personnel. The public (male or female) is invited to attend the luncheon for a donation of $12. Guests for the luncheon are required to RSVP.

The buffet luncheon is followed by an address by this year’s special guest speaker  U. S. Army (Ret) Colonel Kelly Zachgo,  vice-president of the Oklahoma Military Heritage Foundation, a board member at large for the US Field Artillery Association; Commander of COL Woods Chapter of the Military Order of World Wars and Damrosch Music Club.

Col. Zachgo graduated from the US Military Academy in 1980 with the first class that included women. She was commissioned in the Field Artillery and served in Germany with the 3rd Armored Division Artillery, then the US Field Artillery School at Ft. Sill where she developed computer courses for various officer programs. She later transferred to the Army Reserve with the 95th Division serving in various capacities with the Inspector General, Engineer Section, Commandant and G-6 Section, ultimately retiring as the Division G-6.

The Rose Petal Ceremony, where attendees release rose petals into a fountain of water in memory and honor of women who have served or are serving in the military, follows the special speaker.

The Branson High School all female Air Force Junior ROTC will provide the Rose Petal Ceremony Color Guard.
